The tragedy at the Nürburgring – the race was not resumed.
The Saturday race of the NLS series at the "Nordschleife" of the Nürburgring was stopped with red flags about half an hour after the start due to a serious accident involving seven cars. For more than two hours, the race was not resumed, after which it became known that there would be no restart, and more detailed information about the incident emerged. At a special press conference, the organizers of the event announced the death of Finnish driver Juha Miettinena, who was competing in a BMW 325i for Keeevin Motorsport. Rescuers quickly reached the scene of the accident, Miettinena was extracted from the wrecked car, and he was transported to the medical center of the track; however, they were unable to save the 66-year-old driver. The other participants in the accident were also sent for medical examination, but they did not have serious injuries. In this situation, it was decided not to resume the Saturday race, but on Sunday afternoon, a second race of the weekend (NLS5) will still take place at the Nürburgring, and a minute of silence for Miettinena will be announced before its start. On Saturday evening, Max Verstappen, who was also supposed to participate in the NLS4 race but did not manage to get behind the wheel, published a short statement on his social media pages: "I am shocked by what happened today... We all love motorsport, but days like this serve as a reminder of how dangerous it is. I send my sincere condolences to Juha's family and friends."
