Reports suggest that Turkey is poised to secure a seven-year agreement for a return to Formula 1.
"An announcement regarding a 7-year deal could be made on Friday."
According to recent reports, Turkey may be poised to make a comeback to the Formula 1 calendar with a long-term agreement. Turkish automotive journalist Etem Sayin mentioned on X that Istanbul Park is "confirmed, I believe," for a return beginning in 2027, and he noted that "an announcement about a 7-year deal might come on Friday."
While Sayin is not typically a part of the Formula 1 paddock, his statement coincides with ongoing conversations between Turkish officials and the sport's commercial rights holders. The timing of this potential deal is significant, as there remains uncertainty about the latter part of the 2026 calendar due to the situation in the Middle East. Formula 1 is currently assessing whether races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi will proceed as scheduled, with a final decision anticipated by late May.
Saudi Arabia has even suggested rescheduling its race to later in the season if necessary, though teams are said to be against adding any further back-to-back events. In this context, Turkey has been advocating for a return starting in 2027, while also positioning itself as a possible short-term replacement venue for this year.
