Lando Norris: Everything is great, the result is perfect!
Lando Norris won the sprint qualifying in Miami, at the track where he achieved his first victory two years ago. It seems that the British McLaren driver has found some special approach to this circuit, if luck is on his side here.
Lando Norris (1st): "Everything is great, the result is perfect, and it's a wonderful way to reward the team for their efforts, as there are quite a few technical updates on our car this weekend. It's nice to feel that it holds the track well again, so I'm grateful to everyone working at the base in Woking.
To be honest, I've always liked Miami – both the track and what happens outside of it. Of course, the weekend is just beginning, there's still a lot ahead, but it's great that we started with a good result.
We know that we've always performed well at this track, and we understood that thanks to the updates we could make a significant step forward – and that's exactly what happened. It's encouraging that our calculations turned out to be correct; the team deserves this success. From the very first lap, I felt comfortable behind the wheel, and I could tell that the rear tires were holding the track well."
Oscar Piastri (3rd): "I'm satisfied. The car has good potential, and that's nice. We have things to work on, but the improvements to the car have allowed us to make a big step forward. Thanks to the whole team for their efforts. My congratulations to Lando; I wasn't lucky today, but his result speaks to the car's potential.
The Ferrari cars were fast all day, but we managed to outpace them – that's a good result. We expected Mercedes to remain favorites, but they are not dominating here as they did before. We'll take today's mistakes into account and see what happens in the sprint, and then focus on qualifying for the Grand Prix."
