Max Verstappen: We have halved the gap.
Max Verstappen showed the fifth fastest time in the qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix sprint. The Red Bull Racing driver stated that thanks to the updates, the car handles better, and the team was able to halve the gap to the leaders.
Isaac Hajar qualified ninth and could not explain the one-second gap to his teammate.
Max Verstappen (5th): "The car feels more cohesive. Of course, there is still work to be done, but it's still a positive step for us. In the last few races, we were losing about a second, and now I can say that we have roughly halved that gap, which is positive.
In the first sector, where maximum speed is mainly important, we have problems, but we know we need to work on that. But everything else is not bad, so I'm satisfied. At least we have pulled away from the midfield teams.
The car is now closer to what it should be, but the result is certainly not what we would like to see. But at least now I can trust the car more."
Isaac Hajar (9th): "At least the qualifying went smoothly. I was able to make it to the final, which was the minimum goal, but I lost a second to Max. I don't know what caused that gap at the moment when I needed to deliver a result. I don't know what's going on at all. I know I can do better."
