Carlos Sainz: We may have a chance for points in the race.
The Williams drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon made it to the second part of the qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix, but the car lacked the speed to compete for a top ten finish. The team hopes that possible rain on race day will allow them to fight for points.
Carlos Sainz (14th): "I was just one tenth away from eleventh place, so you could say that the updates brought to Miami allowed the team to take a step forward. We are still working through the updates and see opportunities to improve, so there was potential to complete a faster lap.
It will be fun in the midfield on Sunday. If the weather interferes with the race, there will be chances to reach the points.
Finally, it was sad to hear about the passing of Alex Zanardi. He maintained his sporting passion despite all circumstances and deserves respect and admiration from the racing community. My thoughts are with his family and friends."
Alex Albon (16th): "I had a decent pace in the sprint, but it was ultimately decided to pit to evaluate a different front wing option and gather information ahead of qualifying. Thanks to the updates that the team has worked hard on, we have become more competitive, but we need to keep going in the same direction to continue moving forward.
In qualifying, there were issues with energy usage and traffic, so I started my fast lap from an unfavorable position.
Overall, the car has improved. We have a good race pace, and according to the forecast, the weather may impact the race. Let's see what Sunday brings."
