Pirelli is waiting for one pit stop... if it stays dry.

At Pirelli, they expect one pit stop in tomorrow's race if it takes place on a dry track, while in case of rain, the situation is unpredictable...

Dario Marraffusca, director of Pirelli's racing programs: "As we anticipated before the weekend began, a one-stop strategy will be the fastest. The tires chosen for the Miami stage have shown stable results and low wear levels, so increasing the length of the stint will not be a problem. Meanwhile, the two-stop strategy lags behind a single tire change by about ten seconds.

The option using Medium-Hard compounds and changing tires between laps 22 and 28 looks the fastest and provides the necessary flexibility in case of a safety car deployment, which often happens in Miami.

A good option would also be the combination of Soft and Hard compounds, with the pit stop to be made between laps 16 and 22. The Medium-Soft combination is less effective in terms of lap time, with the pit stop to be made between laps 32 and 38. It is clear that much depends on the weather – the Sunday race could take place in the rain."
