Damon Hill: George is just a bit unlucky.

1996 World Champion Damon Hill believes that George Russell should not be distracted by Kimi Antonelli's successes on the way to the title…

Damon Hill: "I think George is just a bit unlucky. The racing situation sometimes hasn't played in his favor, but the fact that the championship title is at stake this year seriously affects the mindset.

In such a situation, it's important not to doubt your abilities, to feel confident that you are doing everything right. Throughout a long season, ups and downs are inevitable; sometimes luck will turn away, and sometimes it will favor you. This doesn't depend on you; there's nothing you can do about it. All you need to do is always perform at a high level, show good racing, and by the end of the season, everything will fall into place.

It's important not to let one bad weekend distort the overall picture. A driver can act almost perfectly but find themselves behind due to reliability issues, safety car situations, or weather conditions. The goal is to deliver good results throughout the entire season, even when luck isn't on your side.

There is no doubt that Antonelli is very fast. But I think talent is visible over the distance. I believe he needs to spend at least five seasons before we can judge what he is like, whether he will become a defining figure in the history of Formula 1 or not."
