Aston Martin is delivering mixed signals regarding its recovery strategy following the Miami race. While Fernando Alonso emphasized that genuine performance upgrades won't be seen until races "12 or 14," team COO Mike Krack is now indicating that changes could be implemented as soon as the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix.

"We're really eager to head to Canada," Krack stated to Marca. "Clearly, it's a significant race for us, for the team, and also for our partnership," he mentioned, referencing Honda. "Thus, we’ll be introducing upgrades and we’ll aim to improve compared to before."

These remarks seem to clash with the more cautious outlook expressed by Alonso and Lance Stroll, both of whom implied that substantial aerodynamic improvements would not be ready until after the summer break. Marca suggested that the modifications in Canada might relate to reliability, drivability, or enhancements to the power unit rather than a comprehensive aerodynamic overhaul.

Krack asserted that Aston Martin has made considerable strides since its poor pre-season performance. "As we’ve seen in recent weeks and months, our progress, particularly in reliability, vibration reduction, and handling improvement, has been impressive," he noted. "I believe we've already witnessed significant advancements to date."

He also praised the team's quick response to early-season challenges. "We faced numerous issues at the start of the season, some quite extraordinary," Krack acknowledged. "Nonetheless, I find the speed with which they were addressed to be truly commendable."

However, he admitted that a considerable gap still exists. "We must acknowledge that there remains a significant distance to cover," he stated. Krack indicated that Aston Martin's current emphasis is not solely on aerodynamic development but also on understanding and refining their existing package.

"I believe it's essential to have a clear strategy and plan," he elaborated. "Our objective on the circuit is to maximize what we have at our disposal. We have much to learn from the data we've collected. It's vital to keep the entire team motivated to keep pushing forward and then anticipate the next phase."
