Haas has prepared a set of updates for the stage in Canada.
At Haas F1, preparations are underway for the Canadian Grand Prix, one of the most exciting stages of the season, which has taken place in June for the past 44 years but has now been moved to the end of May, when the weather can be even more unpredictable. In any case, judging by the forecast, precipitation in Montreal is quite likely – especially on Saturday.
It is worth adding that Esteban Ocon has scored points in every Canadian race he has participated in since 2017, including finishing 9th at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve last season.
Ayo Komatsu, team principal: “We always look forward to the Canadian Grand Prix, as it takes place on a track with such a rich history, and Montreal is a beautiful city.
This year we are heading there earlier than usual, and I am sure that the Canadian weather will play its role. We are looking forward to this weekend also because we have prepared a package of updates. However, since the weekend program includes a sprint, we will only have one practice session on Friday to assess everything and try to achieve their maximum effectiveness.
There is a lot to do, but other teams have been doing the same in Miami, so we are ready to take on this challenge and are determined to fight for places in the top ten.”
Oliver Berman: “A year ago, I thought we could achieve even better results in Montreal, so now, of course, I will try to finish higher than 11th place.
We will present the next package of technical innovations in Canada, but since the weekend program includes a sprint, it will be difficult to find the perfect setup right away. However, I have no doubt that we will be fighting in the midfield and aiming for points in both races.
I like Montreal; the fans are great, and the track is interesting – I have no complaints about the weather either! It will be interesting to see how much it adds excitement to the weekend events, as we are heading to Canada three weeks earlier than last year.”
Esteban Ocon: “It’s good that we had a couple of weeks after the Miami stage to regroup and prepare for the Canadian Grand Prix. We have been training hard, working with the team on the simulator, and I am looking forward to getting back behind the wheel.
We always return to Montreal with a special mindset, as the race takes place in North America, so the team can somewhat consider it a home race, and I do because French is spoken in Quebec.
This city always has a unique atmosphere, the Canadian fans are magnificent, and driving on this track is very interesting.
The Miami stage was challenging for us, but we learned a lot of valuable lessons and figured out which areas need improvement, and we are already close to solving this task. Moreover, this weekend, our car will feature a number of new items – let’s hope we can achieve their effective performance right away.”
