Honda is incurring losses, but this will not affect its program in F1.

Honda Motor Co.'s economic indicators for the previous fiscal period, which ended in March, look quite bleak – the Japanese corporation reported financial losses of 423 billion yen, which is approximately 2.68 billion dollars. Experts call this the worst result in the entire historical period since Honda's shares have been listed on the stock exchange, which dates back to 1957. However, the company's management had predicted such a scenario back in the spring of 2025, and the worst expectations came true. Even during the coronavirus pandemic, the losses were smaller – let us recall that it was at the end of 2021 that Honda once again decided to withdraw from the Formula 1 program. However, such a scenario is now ruled out; financial difficulties will not affect the operations of Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), and the joint project with Aston Martin will continue. "HRC does not foresee any changes in its operations due to the financial report published on May 14," the official statement said. Commenting on the low economic indicators, Toshihiro Mibe, President and CEO of Honda Motor Corporation, explained the size of the losses by the large-scale investments in the development of new electric vehicle models and the overall course towards electrification, despite the fact that this development strategy is not yielding the results the company had hoped for. In particular, sales volumes of electric vehicles in the North American market, which is critically important for Honda, have sharply declined due to the fact that the Donald Trump administration canceled all the incentives that buyers of electric vehicles previously enjoyed. As a result, an 11-billion-dollar project to build a factory for electric vehicles and batteries in Canada has been frozen. Honda's management is taking all possible measures to urgently stabilize the economic situation, but the corporation's racing programs should not be affected.
