Berra: The condition of the asphalt is constantly improving.

The track on Notre-Dame Island in Montreal is rarely used for racing, grip at the beginning of the weekend is lacking, but Pirelli is confident that the condition of the asphalt will improve.

Simone Berra, chief engineer: "As is usually the case at events with a Saturday sprint, most of the team's only practice was spent working with Hard tires, but everyone's program was different. Some alternated long runs with short ones, while others focused on evaluating new items that appeared after the Miami Grand Prix. Comparing lap times to last year's figures, the difference is about two seconds.

In Montreal, rubber granulation often occurs, and it is currently only evident on the front left tire and does not affect the rear axle, where a loss of efficiency would be critical. The load on the tires at this track is low, which on the other hand complicates their warming up – special efforts are required to bring the tires into the desired working range.

We saw this during the sprint qualifying, where it was important to warm up the tires before the start of the fast lap. The same will be true in the main qualifying, although on Saturday the asphalt will be in better condition than on Friday. The condition of the surface here constantly improves throughout the weekend."
