Will Bottas be replaced during the season?
Sky Italia is spreading rumors that the management of Cadillac is dissatisfied with Valtteri Bottas's performances. The Finn consistently falls behind Sergio Perez and often makes mistakes. His 22nd place start in Canada was the worst result of his career.
The source claims that the Monaco stage could be decisive for Bottas – if he disappoints the team in the Principality, then allegedly a reserve driver, Colton Herta, who is currently competing in Formula 2, could take over the wheel as early as Barcelona.
However, Herta does not yet have a super license – in the highly unlikely event of Bottas's replacement, the team would have to ask the FIA for an exemption. He also lacks experience driving the current Cadillac car – he will work with the team for the first Friday practice for the first time in Barcelona.
So, the rumors about an early separation from the experienced Bottas in favor of a promising rookie are just rumors for now.
