Lewis Hamilton: I gave it my all.

Lewis Hamilton: I gave it my all.

Lewis Hamilton showed the third fastest time in the Monaco Grand Prix qualifying. The Ferrari driver stated that the team hardly touched the car's settings before qualifying, but for some reason, the behavior of the SF-26 changed. Charles Leclerc was vying for pole position, but during the decisive fast lap, he hit the barrier, broke the rear suspension, and will start fourth on his home track. Lewis Hamilton (3rd): "Congratulations to Kimi, he did a great job. The first pole at this track is always special. We looked strong in practice, so we hardly changed anything on the car, but for some reason, its behavior changed in qualifying. We need to analyze everything carefully to understand why this happened. I gave it my all and drove as close to the barriers as possible. You know, it's a great privilege to race in Monaco. I am one of 22 Formula 1 drivers, I continue to compete, and I enjoy every second. The gaps are minimal. At one point, I thought I had pole, but then Max put in a good lap, and after him, Kimi. It's great that the cars from different teams are so close. I think we missed something today, and we need to figure out what exactly. But in any case, a big thank you to the guys working at the base and on the track. We didn't bring any upgrades for this event, but it's clear we are in the fight. And I look forward to the new things we are preparing for the future." Charles Leclerc (4th): "Today's result was due to a combination of factors. I think it's a consequence of the two previous unsuccessful weekends. There is definitely something wrong with my car, which is causing me problems right now. I think we found a solution, but we can only test it in Barcelona – that's where we'll see if it got better. But at the moment, the car's stability leaves much to be desired, which is why I had to attack in the final part of qualifying without knowing the car's limits, and I overdid it. I love this track; it's my favorite of the season, but just being fast on this track is not enough. You need to feel confident in the car, to know exactly how it reacts to your actions, to know how to position it on the track, and this weekend, I found it difficult to do that. When I braked, I didn't know where I would end up in the corner. The same story happened in Montreal, and I just need to try to find a solution. The car definitely sustained damage, but I'm not too worried that it will affect tomorrow. But I don't know, as I haven't spoken to the team yet."
