Formula E: The calendar for the next season has been finalized.
Formula E and the FIA have presented a preliminary version of the calendar for the 2026-2027 season – it was announced at today's meeting of the World Motor Sport Council held in Macau.
For the first time, the season in the electric series will consist of 21 races taking place in 13 cities around the world, including new stages in Austin at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) and in Zandvoort, while the British stage of the championship will take place on the classic track in Brands Hatch.
The 13th season of Formula E will kick off in December, but this will be preceded by official tests taking place in Spain from November 16 to 20. It is during this time that the 4th generation (GEN4) electric cars from all 11 teams in the World Championship will hit the racetrack for the first time, and a month later, the first stage of the new season will take place in Saudi Arabia.
The GEN4 Formula E cars are the most advanced racing electric vehicles, embodying the latest technologies. These cars feature all-wheel drive and powerful powertrains – in race mode, they develop 450 kW, and in the special Attack Mode – up to 600 kW.
Another innovation of the 13th season is that on double-header days, races will be held in two formats: on Saturday, the familiar 45-minute race with a pit stop will take place, during which an express battery recharge (Pit Boost) occurs. During this, the cars will be set up for low downforce, but on Sunday, the settings will change to a configuration that provides increased downforce, and this will be a shorter race without a pit stop, i.e., a 30-minute sprint at the highest possible speeds.
The aerodynamic configuration for each stage will be confirmed three weeks before the race.
Also, for the first time in Formula E, rain tires will be used, which will be applied at the discretion of the race management according to weather conditions.
The points scoring system has also been adjusted: one additional prize point will be awarded for reaching the qualifying final, one bonus point will be awarded to the winners of each duel, and the same amount will be earned by the driver who secures pole position.
