Honda summed up the Austrian weekend.

The chief engineer and head of the Honda Racing team, Shintaro Orihara, summed up the Austrian weekend…

Shintaro Orihara: “The Austrian track is located in the mountains, high above sea level, where the load on the turbo increases. We checked the operation of the turbocharger on the stand beforehand, and a positive aspect of Friday was that the turbo worked exactly as expected on the track.

On Saturday, we received several positive comments from Fernando Alonso. He noted that he felt greater stability in handling and energy usage. It is extremely important to optimize these parameters before we receive the power unit of the new version, to make the most effective use of its potential.

On Sunday, the race took place in hot conditions, with air temperatures exceeding 33 degrees, and the asphalt heating up to nearly 60. The race was challenging in terms of power management, temperature, and cooling, but we managed thanks to good coordination with the team.

Unfortunately, we received unexpected telemetry regarding the battery on Lance's car, so we decided to retire him from the race. We will send this battery back to the base for inspection to make a decision about its further use before Silverstone.

The results of this weekend do not meet our expectations, but we have made some progress and will be able to apply this positive approach in the next stage, where we will continue to work on improving handling and optimizing energy management.”
