Since the Ford Bronco's debut in the 2021 model year, the competition between it and the Jeep Wrangler has been a hot topic. We've noted multiple times just how close this contest has become. As of mid-2026, Jeep has sold 86,254 Wranglers, while Ford's sales figure is at 76,936—still significantly trailing the Wrangler. However, Ford claims it has the advantage of momentum.
“Bronco achieved record results in Q2 and for the first half of the year, surpassing the Jeep Wrangler's sales for the quarter,” the company stated in an 8-K securities filing on its investor site Thursday. “Q2 sales increased by 15.9%, while sales for the first half rose by 6.8%.”
The data supports Ford's assertion. Jeep's leading tally is credited to strong first-quarter sales (44,461 units). However, the last three months saw a dip (41,793 units). A decrease in spring and summer sales feels unusual for a convertible off-roader, but we do not have insights into Jeep’s marketing or promotional tactics.
In contrast, Ford appears to be aggressively promoting the Bronco. The company sold 45,739 units in Q2, surpassing its Q1 sales (31,197). Nonetheless, that early 13,000-unit deficit has created a significant gap. Simply outselling the Wrangler by approximately 4,000 units for two more quarters won’t suffice, and while Jeep's sales are stagnating, they are not decreasing.
Moreover, Ford attributes the Bronco's growth to record Q2 sales. This means Ford needs to keep achieving quarterly sales records if it wants to close the gap and potentially surpass its rival. The competition is still very much alive; it will be interesting to see what unfolds in the second half of the year. In the meantime, enjoy the excitement.
