Pierre Gasly: The reality is that we are lacking speed.

Pierre Gasly qualified 12th in Silverstone, while his Alpine teammate Franco Colapinto ended his fight in the first session...

Pierre Gasly (12th): "A tough day. A challenging sprint in the morning and a difficult qualifying in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the reality is that we lack speed compared to our closest competitors. In the sprint, I had a good start, moved up to eighth place, but then I was caught by the Racing Bulls drivers, and I couldn't keep them behind. It seemed we made some progress compared to yesterday, but it's not enough. We need to take much more serious steps. Tomorrow we will continue the fight with the Racing Bulls and Audi. During the sprint, we drew some conclusions - we will try to use this experience in the race. Let's see if we can compete with them for points. It will be tough, but the race in Silverstone is usually long and challenging, anything can happen."

Franco Colapinto (19th): "Considering the work done by the team during the breaks between sessions and the improvement in the feel of the car, especially in the slow and medium-speed corners, I am disappointed that the day ended this way. We had a decent sprint, with a lot of fuel the car was more competitive than on the fast lap, but it wasn't enough to compete with the Racing Bulls. This gives some hope that in the race I can gain a few places. The wind picked up during the day, which complicated the situation in qualifying, but the conditions were equal for everyone. In Becketts, I unexpectedly lost control of the rear of the car, I've never experienced anything like that before. I need to look at the telemetry and understand what could have caused the sudden oversteer. Starting from such a distant position will make the race challenging, but I will do my best. Racing in Silverstone is interesting, I hope I can fight and overtake. Let's see how the race ends."
