Hamilton: We are gradually closing the gap to Mercedes.

The Ferrari team had a successful qualifying session in Silverstone – Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton qualified second and third. Both Scuderia drivers are pleased to start in the top three but acknowledged that Kimi Antonelli was too fast to challenge him for pole position.

Charles Leclerc (2nd): "I’m happy. The last few races have been tough for me as I wasn’t fully satisfied with the car and couldn’t put all the pieces together. Things happened on Sundays that sometimes prevented me from scoring points.

This weekend, I got the right feeling back with the car, so the work done behind the scenes is paying off. Today is probably the first time I was happy with the car again, and that’s good.

On the other hand, I know how difficult it has been for me to show consistent performances lately. This is just the beginning, but we’ve taken a step in the right direction. Right now, I’m trying to pay attention to every little detail, as I haven’t had the pace lately and have been losing time. We worked hard, and today it all came together. I’m happy with second place.

Of course, I would have liked to start from pole, but Kimi had an incredible lap, and he fully deserves this result."

Lewis Hamilton (3rd): "I qualified in the top three, and I’m happy with that. The guys ahead of me did a great job today. Charles had a good result, but unfortunately, we didn’t have the same pace as Mercedes. But we are gradually closing the gap, and it’s great for the team that we both qualified in the top three.

This result really means a lot, and I hope it allows us to battle with Kimi. We’ll find out tomorrow if that’s the case. But I hope we can play with strategy, work as a team, and try to overtake him. There’s no doubt that we will do everything possible."
