Leo Turini: This is the great beauty of motorsport.
Ferrari is having a rather uneven 77th season in Formula 1, however Lewis Hamilton won in Barcelona, and Charles Leclerc won the British Grand Prix, which gives Leo Turini, a veteran of Italian motorsport journalism and a passionate fan of Scuderia, reason to speak of a positive trend… Ultimately, this is the great beauty of motorsport. In light of recent events, it was almost inevitable to assume that Charles was trying to overcome a certain streak of misfortunes related to issues that were not so much technical as psychological in nature. And now we have seen his response. Leclerc reacted exactly as he could and should have reacted, and yesterday everything went as he wanted. He performed perfectly in Silverstone, and his victory means a lot to everyone who knows and loves the history of Ferrari. As for the debate with those who refuse to acknowledge his championship talent, it is not worth spending time on, and I have always said this. Charles has done a lot for the team during its tough times, so I am very happy for him. Yesterday he drove excellently, demonstrating his knowledge, skills, and desire to win, giving people like me simple reasons for genuine joy. It is also worth emphasizing: Ferrari specialists know what to do and how to work. In just a few days separating the stages in Austria and England, they managed to return to a competitive level, although it is unlikely anyone could have predicted this. Therefore, we must congratulate Frederic Vasseur and his team! Of course, Mercedes remains the favorite of the championship, but we are approaching the midpoint of the season, and Ferrari already has two victories, with both Scuderia drivers not lagging too far behind the championship leaders… Now I want to talk about my godson – Kimi Antonelli. I will say right away: in my opinion, he has never driven as well as he did in Silverstone. He had a great race, and I firmly believe that if it weren't for a technical problem (at least, I believe it was related to reliability), he could have overtaken Leclerc. However, the Mercedes car turned out to be too fragile, and this is seen as the hand of fate. But I must admit, I was impressed by the determination Kimi showed by staying on track and continuing the race, desperately trying to earn at least one point. The situation can only be described as paradoxical: George Russell, who complained about a slow puncture of one of the tires and was slower than the driver from Bologna all weekend, ended up earning 18 points. As for Lewis Hamilton, I don't want to know anything about the yellow flag issue. Of course, the chaotic ending of the race was not in his favor, but he created problems for himself when he made a false start, which could definitely have been avoided. In any case, in discussions about who will win the championship, Sir Lewis cannot be overlooked, even if the probability of this is low…
