In 2027, the number of stages with a sprint may increase to 10.
The Formula 1 calendar for 2027 has not yet been presented, but some details about it are gradually becoming public. Recently in Monza, it was announced that the Italian Grand Prix will take place in a format with a Saturday sprint. Apparently, Monza will not replace one of the six sprint events this year, but will become an additional one. The President and CEO of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, indicated that there will be more sprint events in 2027. According to British Sky Sports, next season we will see between 9 and 10 sprints. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed. Stefano Domenicali: "If we remember the beginning, when sprints first appeared, many were skeptical about what we were doing. But I believe we must be bold, seek new approaches, and not be afraid to go beyond the usual. I think the effect is already visible. When 150,000 spectators came to Silverstone on Friday, it would be wrong not to offer them the opportunity to see more events on the track. Therefore, I believe sprints are the right way. We are already working on announcing more sprints in the future. This will happen very soon when we present the calendar. Stay tuned for updates."
