"It’s futile to draw comparisons between us and Silverstone."

Formula 1’s upcoming event at Spa-Francorchamps is set to be another sell-out, with only a few tickets left for next week’s Belgian GP. Local promoter Vanessa Maes indicates that there are just 4,000 to 5,000 tickets still available, with daily attendance anticipated to reach the circuit’s full capacity of 115,000 spectators. "In collaboration with the authorities, we are able to welcome 115,000 attendees," she stated. "We are progressively increasing the maximum number to ensure greater comfort for the attendees."

These numbers come just after Silverstone drew a record crowd of over 150,000 fans on Friday. The overall British GP weekend attracted more than 564,000 fans over four days, marking it as the largest Formula 1 event ever held. However, Maes pointed out that making direct comparisons between the two venues is misleading. "It’s futile to compare us to Silverstone, which was a World War II airfield," she expressed. "It’s a flat, open area spanning thousands of hectares. At Francorchamps, the track winds from one hillside to another. Many surrounding areas are forested, which adds to the charm of our national circuit."

The Belgian GP has a contract to remain on the Formula 1 calendar as part of a rotation agreement that will see Spa host races in 2027, 2029, and 2031, alternating with Barcelona in 2028, 2030, and 2032.
