FIA chief suggests that Horner's return to F1 is already planned.
"Where is not for me to say - even if I know"
FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has suggested that he may already be aware of where Christian Horner’s return to Formula 1 will occur. Horner, who participated in last weekend’s British GP for the first time since departing Red Bull, has been associated with various projects, including a potential BYD-backed twelfth team. When the Oxford Mail asked Ben Sulayem if he anticipated Horner’s return to Formula 1, he responded affirmatively: "Yes." When pressed about the likelihood of a comeback, he elaborated, "He will get back. Where is not for me to say - even if I know. It is for him to say." The FIA president also expressed his belief that Horner’s history in the sport outweighs any controversies linked to his exit from Red Bull. "You look at his background," Ben Sulayem stated. "Everyone makes mistakes, but did he deliver? What do you want? Do you want to win or not? Do you want to give it a try or not?"
In the meantime, Horner acknowledged that conversations about his future have begun now that he is no longer bound by contractual obligations. "Of course, there are talks," he mentioned to The Times. "But until recently, I couldn’t do anything because of my leave of absence. Now, technically speaking, I’m a free man." The 52-year-old emphasized that he would only return to a significant opportunity. "If I come back, it will only be in a position where I have the opportunity to make a difference and to win. If you’re not doing it to win, why do it at all?" While BYD is rumored to be the frontrunner in the paddock, Horner declined to comment further. "Huge entity - huge, huge, huge company," he said when questioned about the Chinese manufacturer. "But there has been so much speculation. I think I’ve been linked to every team on the grid so far." He added, "I’m in no hurry."
