The former head of McLaren has taken a leadership position in WRC.
Former Formula 1 team principal of Lotus and McLaren, Eric Boullier, has taken over as the head of WRC Promoter, which will continue to be responsible for the commercial development of the World Rally Championship following a change in ownership of the commercial rights.
Recently, the FIA announced that the French automotive company Cosmobilis, together with the investment firm Park Square Capital, has acquired the commercial rights to host the World Rally Championship. As part of the deal, Eric Boullier has been appointed as the CEO of WRC Promoter – the company responsible for the commercial development of the WRC.
Eric Boullier: "I am taking on this new challenge with great enthusiasm, but at the same time, I understand the responsibility that lies ahead of me. We want to make rally championships even more interesting for fans. Together with the FIA and our partners, we intend to turn each stage into a real event for rally fans around the world. Our goal is to elevate the WRC and ERC to a new level, transform them into global brands, and ensure sustainable development in light of modern technological and environmental challenges."
Eric Boullier led the Lotus team in Formula 1 from 2010 to 2013, after which he served as racing director of McLaren for four and a half years. In 2018, the French specialist left the team and was responsible for organizing the French Grand Prix.
