New AEV Kit Includes Everything Needed to Transform a Ford Super Duty into an Incredible Off-Roader for $20K.

      If you're looking to transform your standard pickup truck into a genuine off-roader, there are plenty of aftermarket companies ready to assist. By "assist," I mean they will sell you parts that you'll need to figure out how to fit together, while also managing the smaller items that inevitably accompany such projects. This can lead to a prolonged build process that loses momentum, much like a truck spinning its tires on a steep dirt hill.

      That's where AEV's FX370 turnkey kit for the Ford Super Duty comes into play. It includes everything required, specifically engineered to work seamlessly with the factory components, eliminating any troubleshooting once installed. AEV claims that the FX370 kit strikes a balance between daily usability and improved off-road performance. AEV views this not just as an upgrade for recreational off-roading; they assert that the FX370 kit is ideal for commercial operations as well as day-to-day towing and hauling.

      What’s included? The kit is centered around 37-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 tires, which is denoted by the “370” in “FX370.” These tires are mounted on 18-inch wheels from AEV’s collection, and they can't just be attached without modifications. AEV supplies a tire-clearance kit, recalibrates the speedometer, and replaces the door-jamb sticker with a new one that indicates the larger tires and provides pressure and payload information, similar to what would be found on factory-installed tires.

      The kit also features a four-inch suspension lift with AEV-tuned Bilstein dampers, which the company claims maintain on-road ride quality. A stamped-steel front bumper is designed to accommodate a winch and includes built-in recovery points, while the "high-clearance" rear bumper enhances the departure angle and also has its own recovery points. Although a graphics package with matte black stripes across the doors and bed sides does not enhance off-road capability, it certainly adds to the visual appeal.

      Starting at $19,999, this kit is not exactly an economical choice. This is especially true for enthusiast owners who might have the funds to purchase individual parts over time but not to invest in everything at once. Nevertheless, this well-engineered setup eliminates uncertainties that could lead to extra, unexpected expenses in the future. It’s also more efficient to buy the kit and complete the installation in one go, which benefits the commercial users AEV is also targeting.

      If you don’t already own a truck to modify, it would be even easier to visit a dealer and get a Super Duty Tremor. As of this writing, the Tremor package itself is priced at $4,450, but depending on the trim level chosen, additional mandatory options may increase the overall cost. The total expense for upgrading an XLT—the least expensive trim available with the Tremor package—comes to $13,575 once you factor in the cost of four-wheel drive and the required crew cab. Tremors are also equipped with 35-inch tires, not 37s. If even larger tires are a priority, AEV provides a kit that enables the Super Duty to accommodate 40-inch tires.
