      Sergio Perez is rumored to be considering a departure from Cadillac in 2027, even though he has been consistently outperforming his teammate Valtteri Bottas in the team’s challenging inaugural season. According to Japan’s as-web.jp, Bottas is under contract with Cadillac for two years and lacks a release clause, which is why both he and the team have categorically dismissed rumors that American Colton Herta might take his place next year.

      Although Perez has delivered strong performances and enjoys significant commercial support from Mexico, his position appears to be less stable. The report indicates that his contract effectively spans only 2026, and talks have occurred with Williams, where Carlos Sainz's future is becoming increasingly uncertain.

      James Vowles is eager to keep Sainz, but if the Spaniard departs, Perez would present an experienced and commercially appealing alternative. Meanwhile, Perez has expressed criticism of Cadillac's pace of development.

      "It has been quite challenging for us to develop," he remarked in Hungary. "I believe we haven’t developed nearly enough."

      "We clearly need to reassess all our processes to ensure that we can develop much more effectively, because in Formula 1, development is crucial."

      As Cadillac heads into the August break without any points, Perez acknowledged that their reliance on external suppliers has hindered the development process. "We don’t have a well-defined process in place," he stated. "Compared to many established teams, they understand their development processes. For us, we are still navigating many unknowns."

      Nevertheless, Perez conveyed a strong message about Cadillac’s prospects beyond this season. "At this moment, we need to start concentrating on next year," the Mexican said. "I believe the team will continue to strive for a few more upgrades to ensure we can at least demonstrate to ourselves that our development process is robust."
