Ferrari introduces a new floor for Zandvoort, named 'ADUO2,' intended for Monza.
Ferrari is set to come out of the summer break with a significant push for development, starting with a new floor at Zandvoort, followed by the much-anticipated 'ADUO2' engine upgrade at Monza. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport's technical expert, Paolo Filisetti, the floor for the Dutch GP is a direct advancement of the successful specification introduced in Barcelona. Reportedly, this upgrade was not initially scheduled for deployment before Silverstone; however, a review of Ferrari’s varying performances in Austria and Britain pinpointed opportunities to enhance the Barcelona concept. Consequently, Ferrari expedited the design and production ahead of the mandatory summer shutdown.
The next advancement will take place immediately after at Monza, where Ferrari plans to launch its second authorized ADUO development. The updated power unit is said to include a turbine with a larger-diameter impeller, primarily aimed at enhancing combustion engine performance on the straights. Ferrari, however, does not anticipate that this upgrade will entirely eliminate its engine performance gap with Mercedes and Red Bull this season. "Mercedes is still leading, at least concerning engine performance," stated team principal Frederic Vasseur to France’s Auto Hebdo. "We expected this to be a challenging year for us regarding the engine. Given our initial deficit, we're performing relatively well."
"Clearly, it’s still not sufficient, as our goal is to win." When asked if the Monza specifications could potentially equal Ferrari with Mercedes, Vasseur responded, "I would say no." "It will definitely help, that much is certain." "When comparing to Mercedes and Red Bull, the difference in engine power is about one or two-tenths per lap."
