Max Verstappen: We have the fourth fastest car.

      Max Verstappen crashed his car on a wet track in the last corner of the first lap of the Dutch Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver was unharmed, although the impact with the wall was quite strong. Max explained what happened and was glad that his exit did not turn into a serious crash.

      Liam Lawson, who replaced the injured Isaac Hajar this weekend, finished seventh, received a 10-second penalty that did not affect the final result, and one penalty point for not slowing down enough in the single yellow flag zone at Turn 3.

      Liam Lawson (7th): "Honestly, I have no idea why I was penalized. I assume there were yellow flags due to Esteban Ocon, but I slowed down as soon as I approached his car – until that moment, I just didn’t see anything. Obviously, I didn’t slow down enough, but it was unintentional, and I will take it as a lesson.

      Overall, it was a challenging day. The first laps were quite interesting, but then I found it difficult to keep up with the leaders' pace. We already knew after qualifying that it would be a tough race, although I had a decent lap. But I didn’t expect it to be this hard – we really struggle to keep up with the leaders, but after the weekend, we will try to sort everything out."

      Max Verstappen (retirement): "It was quite wet in that corner, but when I was passing through, I noticed a dry line starting to appear. And I thought that from that moment I could accelerate again. But suddenly the car accelerated too sharply, which caught me off guard – it’s just that simple. I tried to correct the car, but I couldn’t.

      After that, there was the impact with the wall. Honestly, it could have been much worse, as there were many cars behind me.

      If we assess the season as a whole, we have the fourth fastest car, and this weekend just confirmed that fact. We are indeed behind, but we want to be closer to the leaders. Maybe we can do it in Monza, but I don’t know.

      Moreover, the season is already nearing its end, and we need to think about next year. There are several features in the car's design that can only be changed next year to achieve a really significant speed increase.

      Right now, we are trying to get the most out of what we have. The end of the season will be tough, but we will do everything we can."
