Team leader of Haas, Ayo Komatsu, believes that Oliver Berman has not yet reached the limit of his abilities and is capable of becoming one of the leaders in Formula 1 over time.
Ayo Komatsu: "I don't see a limit to Oliver's potential yet. I don't think he has any restrictions. But right now, I don't want to say that he will definitely become a world champion, as he has not yet stood on the podium.
Only when you reach the next level, for example, when you get a competitive car and start regularly fighting for podiums or wins, can you understand if you can really become a world champion. When Oliver reaches that level, I'm sure he will be very good."
Komatsu also noted Berman's attitude towards work and cited his reaction after an unsuccessful weekend in Miami. At that time, a team mistake during a pit stop further complicated the race for the young British driver, but he did not let his emotions take over and instead tried to support the Haas staff.
"If we talk about his character, when something goes wrong, he just doesn't get nervous," continues Ayo Komatsu. "For a 21-year-old guy, even though he is already an adult, he is still one of the youngest members of the team, this is impressive.
In Miami, he had an incredibly difficult race, and it wasn't his fault. He did everything he could, and we made a mistake during the pit stop, which put him in a very difficult position, and he couldn't change anything.
Oliver immediately switched gears and thought, 'How can I support and motivate the team?' I think this speaks to his excellent understanding of the situation and incredible maturity."
