Hamilton aims to create the 'Ferrari F44'.
"The foundation is an F40, featuring a genuine manual transmission."
Lewis Hamilton intends to contribute to the creation of his own Ferrari supercar. Just a month prior to officially beginning his tenure as a Ferrari driver, where he posed in a black suit next to an F40 outside Enzo Ferrari’s residence, the seven-time world champion revealed that he had grown tired of high-performance road cars.
"The last vehicle I purchased was the AMG One," the 40-year-old shared with Auto Motor und Sport. "However, that will also be my final supercar for the foreseeable future. Currently, I don't have much interest in buying more."
"These days, I prefer to invest my money in art. I’m always discovering new artists, particularly talented black artists."
When questioned about his shift away from sports cars, Hamilton elaborated: "Most contemporary ones tend to look quite similar. I feel that something is lacking."
"I have a preference for classic cars, especially regarding their sound and emotional appeal."
The initial F40s began rolling off the production line in Maranello at the end of the 1980s, and it is this legendary Ferrari that the Briton has in mind for his upcoming project.
"One of my main goals is to design a Ferrari," he stated. "I want to create an F44."
"The foundation will be an F40, complete with an authentic manual transmission. I’ll be focusing on that in the coming years."
