Williams refutes claims regarding Sainz's 2024 racing car.
"The monocoque for 2025 has been altered from the FW46."
Williams has refuted claims that Carlos Sainz might not be competing with the team's complete 2025 car. After moving from Ferrari and making a strong impression during the post-season Abu Dhabi tests and the only winter test in Bahrain, the Spanish driver expressed frustration following the Chinese race, citing “one of the strangest drops in performance I’ve experienced in my career.”
One speculation suggests that only one full 2025 Williams is available – the one currently driven by Albon. However, the team asserts that both cars are identical and based on the 2024 monocoque.
“A spokesperson informed Formula 1 journalist Chris Medland, who contributes to Racer and other outlets, that the monocoque for 2025 is indeed modified from the FW46, but remains the same one.”
Medland continued quoting the spokesperson on X: “The FW47 is an evolution as we’ve explained before, in line with our objectives for 2026.” He also noted that Williams has three chassis for 2025 prepared, suggesting Sainz could potentially switch to the spare for upcoming races.
