Red Bull is trying to copy McLaren's solution

All the interesting technical solutions in Formula 1 are sooner or later copied by rivals, and the McLaren rear brakes, which are able not to overheat the rubber, will be no exception. Red Bull Racing chief Engineer Paul Monaghan confirmed to RacingNews365 that work is underway, although it is not fully clear exactly how this system works for McLaren.

Paul Monaghan: "If the car slides, the rear tyres inevitably overheat. We are working in this direction, it may not be noticeable from the outside, but we are moving forward step by step.

There is no magic solution that allows you to instantly win back the gap and break away from your rivals. This is a painstaking engineering work, a thorough solution development with smart people, which is currently underway.

We have a staff, we have a budget, we have certain limitations and a clear goal – to build the best car we can and continue to improve it. In Formula 1, everyone is focused on this. The question is whether we can do it fast enough to catch up and overtake everyone ahead of us."
