Alonso: Qualifying was better than we expected.

For the first time in the season, both Aston Martin drivers qualified for the finals, while Fernando Alonso showed a very decent fifth result, noting that the technical innovations presented by the team at Imola helped achieve it.

Fernando Alonso (5th): "Qualifying was better than we expected. Both cars are in the final, and this is a great result for our team. This weekend we presented a range of technical innovations, and so far they have made a pretty good impression.

We were quite competitive on both Medium and soft tyres, so we could apply different approaches to tactics during qualifying. However, we have to be realistic, so let's see how things go in tomorrow's race.

I don't think we're fast enough to qualify for 5th place, but we'll see if we can hold those positions and score points."

Lance Stroll (8th): "Have a good day, because we scored 8th in qualifying. We chose the right tires, relying on the Medium composition in these conditions, and this approach paid off: everything worked out as it should. Moreover, the characteristics of the route suit us.

As far as we can see, the new products have already had a positive effect, but we must try to unlock the car's potential even more fully. Tomorrow we will have a better understanding of what our real pace is and whether we can hold our position."

Andy Cowell, Executive Director and Team Leader: "Thanks to the efforts of the whole team, we achieved a well-deserved result in qualifying today: Fernando scored 5th and Lance 8th. The drivers didn't make a single mistake, driving great laps in all qualifying sessions, taking full advantage of the optimal car settings.

The choice of rubber was also extremely thoughtful: preparations for this began long before the start of the weekend, and today it has borne fruit.

Our best qualifying result of the season will give new strength to all the thousands of team members who are working very hard to achieve improvements in all areas. We know how important qualifying is on this track, because it is very difficult to overtake here, but points are awarded only at the end of the race."
