The four drivers with the best chance of a spot in Cadillac

The official website of the championship, citing its sources of information, has compiled a list of four drivers who have the best chance of signing a contract with Cadillac and returning to Formula 1.

It is precisely to "return", because currently none of them are competing in this championship, either serving as reserve pilots, or continuing their careers in another series, or simply skipping the season, like Sergio Perez.

It seems that the Mexican, with his 285 Grand Prix experience, has the most preferred chances; he knows how to win and in 2023, when he competed for Red Bull Racing, he became vice-world champion.

His strengths also include a good knowledge of technology, the ability to achieve efficient rubber performance and show stable results behind the wheel of not the fastest cars, as it was at the time when Sergio was driving for Force India / Racing Point.

He really wants to return to racing, so he has already been in talks not only with Cadillac, but also with Alpine. Moreover, the Latin American market is important for General Motors, and the popular Mexican racer is an additional trump card in this regard. It is also important that Perez has generous sponsors, primarily the structures of the business empire of billionaire Carlos Slim.

Valtteri Bottas takes the second place in the list of finalists in the dispute over the contract with Cadillac F1. He has not much fewer races than Perez, and there are clearly more wins, podiums and pole positions, and together with Mercedes he twice took 2nd place in the championship - it was in 2019 and 2020.

The Finn spent the last three seasons at Sauber, where his team-mate was Guanyu Zhou, whose manager Graham Loudon now holds the post of head of the new Formula 1 team, i.e. Valtteri is also well acquainted with Loudon.

This year, Bottas is once again working with Mercedes as a backup driver, and he is also fully dedicated to preparing for 2026, which is especially valuable for Cadillac. As well as the fact that Valtteri, thanks to his cheerful disposition, has quite a large army of fans in different countries of the world.

The already mentioned Guanyu Zhou is on the third line of the shortlist - Loudon has worked with him for many years, knows what the Chinese racer is capable of, especially this season he performs the duties of a reserve driver at Ferrari. And Cadillac will use the Italian team's power plants and transmissions for at least the first two years. Zhou (like Bottas) had to deal with this technique at Sauber, and such experience, of course, can also be a good help.

Felipe Drugovich is also mentioned in the text on the official website of the championship, but the Brazilian is given only a few lines, unlike Mick Schumacher.

After parting ways with Haas F1, the son of the seven-time world champion was a Mercedes reservist for two years and has been competing in endurance races for the Alpine factory team for the second year. He is in very active negotiations with Cadillac management. It is expected that their next round will be held in the coming weeks, although it is unlikely that the 11th team of the championship will rush to make a decision, and even more so with its publicity.

Although there is a possibility that before the end of the summer we will find out the name of her first chosen one, so that he can get involved in the process of creating the first Cadillac chassis early.

Tellingly, American racers are not mentioned in the text at all.
