Rumors: Ferrari is thinking about setting up a base in the UK
Maranello is thinking about setting up a branch base in the UK, – such rumors are circulating in the paddock, and Nico Rosberg told about them on Sky Sports, taking part in the analytical program The F1 Show.
"I am watching how the work is going on inside the Ferrari team, and you can see that the level of standards adopted there cannot be compared with what is typical for British teams," said the 2016 world champion. – Especially with a team like Mercedes, and this applies to different areas, starting with marketing.
In general, it is clear that serious difficulties are associated with the work culture in general, and with the very fact that the Scuderia is based in Italy. For example, at Mercedes, when Lewis Hamilton had a question, he immediately went to Toto Wolff, who could immediately make the right decision, because he was responsible for everything himself.
But there are so many different people at Ferrari who are responsible for making decisions that even Lewis doesn't really know who to turn to. Something like this happens: if he asks someone for something, and this person fulfills his request, then some other specialist will be unhappy with it. Anyway, there are some difficulties,
and I've heard that a couple of ideas are being discussed at Maranello. I think Ferrari is exploring the possibility of opening something like a branch in the UK, because the entire ecosystem of Formula 1 is located there. I've heard rumors that they've already thought about it.
The problem is how to properly organize interaction and information exchange. It's one thing to simply create a branch base in the UK, but you also need to establish an extremely effective connection with the headquarters. And if it's impossible to organize such an exchange of information, is there any point in such a project?"
However, other teams are quite successful in solving similar tasks, for example, the Haas racing team is based in Banbury, England, and the technical department is located at the Ferrari factory in Maranello. Racing Bulls also has a technical department in the UK, despite the fact that the main base is located in Faenza, in Emilia-Romagna near Imola.
After ten stages of the season, Ferrari takes 3rd place in the Constructors' Cup, the Italian team has not yet won, and Charles Leclair has only managed to climb the podium three times - he occupies only the fifth place in the personal standings, losing to the leader, McLaren racer Oscar Piastri, already 94 points.
Of course, this situation does not suit any higher the Ferrari management, no fans, and before the Canadian Grand Prix, there were publications in the Italian press that clouds were already gathering over Frederick Wasser's head. Wasser himself reacted very sharply to the appearance of such rumors at that time.
