Johnny Herbert considers Horner an outstanding manager.
Johnny Herbert, a former Formula 1 driver, highly values the contributions of Christian Horner, who led the Red Bull Racing team for two decades and has now been removed from all positions.
Back in the day, Red Bull inherited a rather difficult legacy when Dietrich Mateschitz acquired Jaguar Racing from Ford in 2005, and Horner became the youngest team principal in Formula 1 at that time.
Everyone knows what successes the team has achieved since then, and Herbert has no doubt that Christian Horner will be remembered as one of the outstanding racing managers.
"Of course, at different times, there have been many successful people, and he is one of them because of what has been created, since Christian Horner, together with Helmut Marko, Dietrich Mateschitz, and all the others, was an integral part of this project," Herbert is quoted by RacingNews365. "All their successes were achieved together with Sebastian Vettel, Mark Webber, Max Verstappen, and other drivers who competed for this team.
Collaborating with some of them was very positive; others were not as good as we hoped, but overall, the partnership between the team and its drivers was impressively successful. Jaguar had many problems in the past, but when Christian arrived, they managed to turn the situation around and create Red Bull Racing. Although, as we know, the team was not supported by an automaker but by an energy drinks company, which was passionate about sports.
Dietrich Mateschitz was always a passionate Formula 1 fan, and they all put in tremendous effort to ensure that their project brought benefits to the Red Bull brand—and they succeeded. Christian was a very important part of all this."
