Mansell: Nothing at Silverstone foretold trouble.

Mansell: Nothing at Silverstone foretold trouble.

Nigel Mansell's career, which peaked with his world championship win in 1992 with Williams, has been quite turbulent, and he knows firsthand that discord within Formula 1 teams is not uncommon. Reasons can vary greatly; nevertheless, Mansell, like many others, is shocked by how Red Bull treated Christian Horner.

"I believe I, like the fans, did not know what was going on at Red Bull, so the news surprised and shocked me," Mansell shared, who is participating in the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend. "Last weekend at Silverstone, I was with the Red Bull Racing team, talking to Christian, and nothing indicated there would be any problems. So, what happened is quite surprising and somewhat frightening.

No one has all the facts, and it would be unprofessional of me to express any opinion, but I can only say that Christian Horner has handled his role brilliantly for 20 years, and what he has achieved is proof of his professionalism and dedication to Formula 1. That must not be forgotten.

Since everything is happening mid-season, whatever the reasons, it will not benefit the team. The team will miss Christian, and an inevitable transitional period lies ahead. Red Bull will find it difficult to reach the level of competitiveness they desire.

Without having all the facts, commenting on what is happening inside any team is always very difficult. I can only say that motorsport is quite complex even without all these issues, and each team has to overcome colossal challenges. But we will follow the development of events; it promises to be interesting, don’t you agree?"
