Izola: The most interesting thing happened in the opening laps.
Pirelli are pleased with how the tyres performed at the home round…
Mario Isola, Pirelli's motorsport director: "At this Grand Prix the most interesting action happened in the opening laps, when drivers were overtaking each other spectacularly. Then the situation stabilised and the race became very processional – all the drivers tried to extend their opening stints as much as possible, depending on the compound chosen.
Unlike last year, today we saw almost no graining, and the loss of performance on the smooth asphalt was virtually zero. Drivers could more or less choose when to make their pit stop depending on their position on track, and some decided to take a risk by running more laps in the hope of a safety car.
We saw a few cases of blistering on the front tyres, which did not have a significant effect on pace. Obviously, the drivers who exceeded the 40-lap mark on the first stint approached the wear limit, and in some cases even exceeded it, but without a loss of performance.
We will analyse all the data, which will help in developing the compounds for next year. In less than 48 hours we will be back on track in Monza for two days of tyre testing for 2026. On Tuesday we will work with Red Bull Racing (with Verstappen and Tsunoda at the wheel) and Aston Martin (Drugovich), and the following day with Williams (Albon and Sainz) and Racing Bulls (Lawson and Hadjar)."
