Enrico Cardile on his responsibilities at Aston Martin
In early August we wrote that Ferrari and Aston Martin, after a dispute that lasted many months, had reached an agreement on Enrico Cardile’s move to the British team, where he will take up the post of technical director and finally be able to get to work.
Today Cardile spoke to the team’s press office for the first time and outlined the tasks ahead of him.
Enrico Cardile: "I am very pleased to be starting work at Aston Martin. I am excited to join this team because I believe in it — it has everything needed to achieve success.
My responsibilities include leading the entire process of creating the car: I am responsible for its performance, its aerodynamic characteristics, all engineering and design decisions, and for conducting tests — essentially all activities from the initial idea to the racetrack.
Much at Aston Martin’s base made a very positive impression on me — the technical campus is organized and equipped superbly. I looked at the team’s wind tunnel through the eyes of an engineer — what I saw is literally breathtaking; the modern technologies embodied in it are so impressive.
The team is distinguished by Adrian Newey’s uncompromising approach and his long-term vision, a constant drive to perfect every single detail of the car. Andy Cowell, the team principal, is characterized by a very thoughtful and meticulous approach: like Adrian, he overlooks no nuance of the chassis development process and strives to make Aston Martin the best team in the championship.
Everyone communicates very openly and interacts effectively in solving the tasks before us, and they are ready to adjust the approaches we use because everyone wants to achieve improvements. And although the growth process takes time, we must already strive to deliver good results on the track."
