Max Verstappen: We did not encounter any serious problems
Max Verstappen posted the third-fastest time in the second practice for the Singapore Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver is happy with the day's outcome and that there were no major issues with the car. His teammate Yuki Tsunoda posted the eleventh-fastest time, nearly a second behind session leader Oscar Piastri.
Max Verstappen (3rd): "It's not so bad. The first practice started well, I gradually picked up speed, and, as in the previous two weekends, there were no serious problems with the car.
In the second practice we ran a few experiments. Some solutions worked, others need more work, but overall I'm quite satisfied. However, we need to get more speed from the car to fight for a spot on the front row tomorrow.
It's positive that we're quick at a track where we had prepared for difficulties. Of course, there are areas where we need to improve, but this isn't a case where we'd have to change the setup completely.
We'll see what result tomorrow brings. I don't yet know whether we'll have the speed to make the front row on the grid. We'll find out in qualifying."
Yuki Tsunoda (11th): "It was a tough day for everyone. The second session was stopped several times by red flags, which isn't ideal because in Singapore it's important to gain confidence behind the wheel, and that takes time. Also, it takes time to find the right balance and optimal setup.
It was difficult to get the tyres to work on the first lap, so tonight we'll analyse what can be done in that area. Right now the team doesn't have enough information about the car's behaviour over a long run, but we'll tweak the Saturday programme slightly to collect the data we'll need on Sunday.
It's hard to say at the moment what the strategy will be — one or two pit stops, and which tyre compounds will be more suitable for the race."
