Ralf Schumacher: It's hard to understand why Ferrari is struggling.

It is quite likely that Ferrari could be called the "disappointment of the year" by the end of the season — in any case, the Italian team still has no wins to its name. On the one hand, there are six races left in the season; on the other, judging by the results at several recent rounds, one cannot count on any standout achievements.

Even Charles Leclerc acknowledged this, arguably breaching corporate etiquette: he said that neither he nor his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, is expecting anything outstanding for the rest of the year, and that the results will be at the same level as they were in Singapore. Recall that there Ferrari’s drivers did not even make it into the top five there.

Overall, Leclerc’s concerns are shared by Ralf Schumacher, a former Formula 1 driver and now an expert for Sky Deutschland, who stressed that although developing the SF-25 chassis cost Ferrari a great deal, the car has completely failed to live up to the hopes pinned on it.

"If you think about it, Ferrari has spent more money than anyone else and ended up with the least successful chassis," Ralf said. "You would think this team has everything it needs. It fields two excellent drivers, it is led by Frédéric Vasseur, who knows how to unite people and set the entire team up to work in harmony. Chassis, engine, gearbox — everything is made in Maranello under one roof, and the best conditions for success are clearly in place. So sometimes it's hard to understand exactly why this team is stalling."

Because of Ferrari’s mediocre recent results by the team’s standards, rumors have once again begun to circulate that there are disagreements within the team and that the Scuderia’s engineers and mechanics are upset with Leclerc over his comments about the car.

After that, Nicolas Todt, the Monegasque’s manager, even hinted that Leclerc will need a car capable of fighting for wins in 2026; otherwise he may consider switching teams.
