Khajar showed the best time on the first day of the Pirelli tests.

Although delayed, Pirelli has summarized the results of the first (of two) days of testing for the 2027 tire prototypes held in Suzuka. Initially, Pirelli planned to work with slicks, but the forecast promised rain, and the schedule had to be adjusted – the day was dedicated to wet and intermediate tires. Two teams participated in the tests – Red Bull and Racing Bulls, each fielding one car and one driver – Isaac Hajar and Liam Lawson took the wheel. The announced participation of Yuki Tsunoda in the tests did not take place – upon learning of the forecast, Red Bull decided to use their main driver.

In the morning, when the track had not yet dried after heavy overnight rain, both drivers tested several options for wet tires, including a new tread pattern.

In the afternoon, a similar program was conducted, but using different options for intermediate tires, while the track gradually dried until another downpour put an end to the running. Hajar completed 69 laps, setting the best time on intermediate tires – 1:45.510. Lawson completed 65 laps with a best result of 1:48.025, also on intermediate tires.

On Wednesday, the Frenchman will return to the wheel of Red Bull, while Lawson will be replaced by his teammate Arvin Lindblad. The weather forecast for Wednesday does not promise improvement, which means that tire testing for wet conditions will likely continue.
