A straightforward rebuttal to these assertions

Jos Verstappen has dismissed the latest rumors claiming that Max Verstappen's potential move to Mercedes is virtually finalized. With speculation mounting about the four-time world champion's association with the German team—partly driven by his increasing connections through GT3 racing—Dutch commentator Jack Plooij suggested he had received firsthand information stating that the agreement was nearly complete. Jos Verstappen's reaction was direct. "He should consult an ENT specialist or just get his ears cleaned," he reportedly said on social media. This denial emerges as chatter continues about Max Verstappen's long-term prospects beyond Red Bull, especially in light of the team's challenges under the 2026 regulations he openly disapproves of. Outside of Formula 1, the Verstappen family remains heavily involved in motorsports, though in various formats. In an interview with the Dutch magazine Formule 1, Jos revealed that he now favors rallying over his previous F1 career. "I prefer this now," he stated. "I don’t have to drive a Formula 1 car anymore. Not even for a few laps, it’s not necessary. I did it; it was wonderful." He added that watching his son race gives him just as much joy. "What's happening in the family now is far more beautiful to me. When I see Max, I enjoy it as much as if I were driving myself. I find this much more thrilling." Jos has even attempted to persuade Max to give rallying a shot—though he hasn’t succeeded yet. "No, driving GT3 at the Nurburgring is harmless," he chuckled. "He just needs to try rallying at least once. With this one, ‘Max, please.’ Then he’ll see it differently. He always mentions the trees, but after a while, you don’t really notice them. You know they’re there and take them into account, but you don’t focus on them. It’s crucial to be aware of their presence."
