The most significant car news and reviews, no nonsense.

If you can afford a Bugatti, the purchase is unlikely to deplete your finances. The Molsheim-based manufacturer is aware of this, so it has collaborated with the Austrian company C Seed to create a branded television, allowing you to watch reruns of your favorite shows while waiting for your Tourbillon to be constructed.

Just as the V16-powered Tourbillon is not merely another car, the Bugatti N1 by C Seed is not just an ordinary TV. Available in sizes of 110 inches or 137 inches, it can be folded away when you don’t need a large television cluttering your mansion's third living room. Bugatti's press release describes the TV's chrysalis design as “an architectural statement,” inspired by the profile of its hypercars, mimicking the unique “C” graphic found behind the doors. However, to me, it resembles either a tanning bed or a sci-fi rejuvenation pod.

While the design may raise some questions, the functionality is indisputable. The screen can extend in just 45 seconds and features 4K resolution, with micro-LED technology providing deeper blacks and maximum clarity. C Seed has created its own “Adaptive Gap Calibration” software to ensure seamless image projection on the folding screen, and the HDR10+ coating is intended to minimize glare. The TV can also rotate 180 degrees, and the foldable design accommodates integrated speakers.

According to Bugatti, the television incorporates “original materials and finishes” from the Tourbillon, including some carbon fiber. The color options are influenced by the paint selections for Bugatti’s latest hypercar. However, this branding initiative goes beyond aesthetic elements. As Bugatti emphasizes, the concept of a folding TV aligns perfectly with the “screen detox” philosophy of the Tourbillon’s cockpit, which features a concealed touchscreen that allows you to fully enjoy the extravagant gauge cluster crafted by Swiss watchmakers.

That gauge cluster is only outshone by the naturally aspirated 8.3-liter V16, produced by Cosworth, which revs up to 9,000 rpm and sounds incredible. It is part of a plug-in hybrid system that includes three electric motors. Together, they push the total system output into the four-digit range (1,775 horsepower, to be precise) and likely contribute to a smoother and more usable experience from the high-revving engine. This setup allows you to observe the rising revs on the exquisite analog tach without worrying about a lack of low-end torque.

That seems like an experience worth the multi-million-dollar cost of a Tourbillon. But having a folding TV is a nice bonus as well.
