Wagon enthusiasts, take a moment to mourn another Porsche wagon.
On Thursday, the 2027 Porsche Taycan was unveiled, featuring fake gear shifts from a non-existent transmission, among other updates. Notably missing and overlooked? The Taycan wagons, including the Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo, have been discontinued. A Porsche representative confirmed to The Drive that it’s not just our imagination—the wagons are indeed gone.
Let’s observe a moment of silence. We can only hold the public accountable, not Porsche. If more people had purchased these models, they would still be available today. This isn’t the first instance of such a situation. The Panamera Sport Turismo was discontinued in 2023 due to low sales as well. Ironically, both the BMW M5 wagon and Audi RS6 Avant have far surpassed the sales expectations for those manufacturers in the U.S. market. What is going on?
The Drive contacted Porsche to inquire specifically why the wagon versions, which are the standout models of the Taycan, have been discontinued. We will update this story as soon as we receive a response.
The Taycan Cross Turismo was confirmed in 2021. At that time, Porsche mentioned it featured a Gravel Roads driving mode. Last year, Executive Editor Andrew Collins tested the Cross Turismo and remarked that it might just be the best all-around electric vehicle. He is seldom incorrect. However, his dog, Bramble, didn’t appreciate Porsche’s electric wagon. Clearly, Bramble has poor taste.
Editor-In-Chief Kyle Cheromcha, who is typically spot-on, reviewed the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo after its release in 2022 and deemed it the best electric Porsche at that time. Cheromcha stated, “Critics who dismiss EVs for lacking soul need to experience driving a Taycan GTS.” Obviously, the critics did not take the opportunity to drive the Taycan GTS wagon.
