      Leonardo Fornaroli has surfaced as a possible Haas candidate for 2027 amid increasing uncertainty regarding the future lineup of the American team. The current Formula 2 champion, who is supported by McLaren, unexpectedly tested Haas equipment at Jerez last week as part of the team’s TPC program. The team states it possesses "the ability to evaluate and test drivers through its TPC program," which has been enhanced for 2026 with significant backing from Toyota. This test occurred just days after McLaren’s team principal, Andrea Stella, confirmed that the team is actively seeking a Formula 1 opportunity for the 21-year-old Italian. "Leonardo is undoubtedly an asset for the future of Formula 1," Stella remarked in Barcelona. "We certainly want him to drive." He hinted that McLaren is open to placing Fornaroli elsewhere on the grid before any future transition to the works team. "We should collaborate with Leonardo to investigate Formula 1 opportunities," he stated. Haas is anticipated to retain Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman for 2027, while Esteban Ocon's future appears less assured. This development also presents another challenge for reserve driver Jack Doohan, who has been working to rebuild his career at Haas after losing his Alpine race seat. "If I could get back into a car, that would be fantastic," the Australian expressed on Fox Sports’ Pit Talk podcast. "But I realize there are many more factors at play than usual." Doohan asserts he is trying not to become overwhelmed by speculation. "I’m concentrating solely on what I can control," he explained. "There are opportunities that will come into my control that, to be in my control, are somewhat beyond my control, if that makes sense." He added, "I believe there is a good opportunity, but I’m not positioned where it's the ultimate goal."
