Verstappen: It's a pity that it ended this way.

For Max Verstappen, qualifying in Spielberg ended in a crash – he attacked on the decisive fast lap when the car spun out in the ninth corner, flew through the gravel trap, and crashed into the barrier. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed…

Max Verstappen (5th): “On the last fast lap, there was a dangerous moment right at the entrance to the 6th corner, which is a bit strange. Nothing like that happened throughout the weekend. Then in the ninth corner, the car immediately spun out. We will check everything to find the cause. It's a shame it ended this way. Honestly, I could have contended for third place, which is still a bit better than fifth. But we are not starting in the best way, so even from third place, I could have ended up fifth. We still need to figure out some features of the updated car, understand what worked well and what didn’t, and move forward.”

Isaac Hajar (8th): “I haven't felt completely comfortable behind the wheel all weekend, and I only set my best lap in the last attempt in the qualifying final. At least I’m satisfied with that, but I’ll repeat: it’s not particularly comfortable to drive. Also, I don’t like how the hybrid system works, how it delivers power, and that affects the speed on the straights. But it is what it is. I believe we have an interesting race ahead tomorrow, as I will start last in a group consisting of eight cars from four top teams. I hope to take advantage of some opportunities to move forward.”
