Audi's political situation puts pressure on Hulkenberg?

"I believe he needs to exercise some caution."

Nico Hulkenberg’s position at Audi is reportedly becoming another topic of interest in the expanding driver market of Formula 1. According to German journalist Ralf Bach, in an interview with f1-insider.com, internal dynamics rather than just performance issues might pose a challenge for the seasoned German driver. "I sense there's quite a bit of politics at play within Audi," Bach remarked. "There’s the Swiss faction, and then there are the Germans. I don’t yet have the impression that they are all united in their efforts." Bach even implied that the 38-year-old Hulkenberg’s standing might be diminishing, particularly as he has frequently been outperformed this year by his younger teammate Gabriel Bortoleto. "It seems to me that Nico Hulkenberg might encounter difficulties for these reasons," he noted. "Hulkenberg doesn't seem to hold the same favor with the team management, notably Mattia Binotto, as he may have last year. I believe he has to be a bit cautious." These remarks emerge as Carlos Sainz continues to be associated with a potential move to Audi for 2027, having advised Williams not to initiate contract talks until the summer break.
