Ferrari is prepared to take its first laps in Formula 1 at Madring.
An initial chance to get acquainted with the layout
Ferrari is poised to become the first Formula 1 team to test at Madrid's new Madring circuit before this year's inaugural Spanish GP. Reports from Spain indicate that the Maranello team will hold a filming day on Thursday, although there has yet to be any official confirmation. Nevertheless, Madrid’s city council has announced road closures around the circuit for July 9 "due to construction work and a test," with activities planned from 7 am to 10 pm. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will each take laps of the new circuit within the 200-kilometre filming day limit. This event would provide Ferrari an early chance to get accustomed to the layout before Formula 1's initial visit to Madring in September. These reports further suggest that preparations for the new venue are on track despite ongoing speculation about potential delays for the project. "A year and a half ago we announced an ambition, a challenge, something many thought impossible or even crazy, but now it’s a reality," stated Spanish GP communications chief Nira Juanco. "It’s been hard work, many months battling against doubts—not our own, but from others. It hasn’t been easy; even the weather posed some challenges, but we are on schedule, and we will meet our timeline." IFEMA Madrid president Jose Vicente de los Mozos also responded to critics of the project. "Reaching this point hasn’t been simple," he remarked. "We've seen and heard numerous biased reports that aimed to instill distrust and uncertainty regarding the project. We take pride in the achievements we've made."
