Ferrari is the first team to evaluate the MadRing racetrack.

Ferrari became the first Formula 1 team whose car covered 200 km on the freshly laid asphalt of the new MadRing racetrack – yesterday we reported that Scuderia held an official filming day there. According to journalists from the Spanish newspaper Marca, despite the 39-degree heat, hundreds of fans gathered near the IFEMA complex, eager to witness this historic event and capture it. The day was divided into two sessions. In the morning, Charles Leclerc completed several laps without any issues, totaling 16 laps – although there were some difficulties related to the filming equipment, work on the track continued nonetheless.

In particular, the Italian team was the first to test the pit lane of the Madrid racetrack and was quite satisfied with how everything was arranged there. When the construction of the track began, which is set to become the permanent home of the Spanish Grand Prix from September 2026, there were skeptical voices questioning whether everything would be completed on time. However, it can now be said that a kind of "baptism" of the racetrack took place, and yesterday Ferrari demonstrated that it is already quite possible to race there. The work at the racetrack is in the final stages, with the construction of the stands progressing rapidly. One of the features of the racetrack is the tunnel, after which the track leads to the main straight, and on his last lap, Leclerc slowed down to wave to the gathered crowd.

In the afternoon, Lewis Hamilton replaced Charles, and in total, Ferrari drivers completed 36 laps on the 5.4 km track. As the newspaper reports, very strict security measures were taken during Ferrari's filming day, provided by the police and the national guard, with roads in the IFEMA complex area being closed. It is unknown whether other teams in the championship plan to follow Scuderia's example, but in any case, they will all gather at the new racetrack on the second weekend of September, and the sound of engines will be heard not just from one Ferrari SF-26, but from all 22 Formula 1 cars.
