The FIA president is confident that Horner will return to the paddock.
Mohammed ben Sulayem, president of the FIA, is confident that Christian Horner will find a way back to Formula 1. After last year's British Grand Prix, the former head of Red Bull Racing was removed from all positions in the team he once built and led for over two decades, with Laurent Mekies taking his place.
All formalities regarding the termination of Horner's contract with Red Bull were settled in September 2025, after which he did not appear in the paddock for a long time and began working on an autobiographical book in his free time, later becoming a consultant for the London private investment fund Oakley Capital. Additionally, he attended several rounds of championships such as MotoGP and Formula E.
But last weekend, Christian Horner returned to the paddock in Silverstone for the first time, including meeting with the president of the FIA during the British racing weekend. Mohammed ben Sulayem shared several photos on this topic on his social media pages, captioning them: "Glad to see my friend Christian Horner."
When asked a direct question about Horner during an interview with ESPN, the FIA president replied: "Yes, I would be happy to see him in the paddock. He will return. It is not for me to say where exactly he will work, even if I knew. He should tell himself."
